Urban Youth Worker Certificate
Shouldn’t a certificate program seek to educate students about the context they are working in?That is why neXus Boston, along with Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary’s Center for Ministerial Education (CUME), is excited to offer the one of the only graduate level Urban Youth Worker Certificates in the country! (For west coasters check out http://www.cyfm.net/certificate.php.) Instead of taking students out of the city to educate them, we educate them in the city, with some of the country’s best educators.
The Urban Youth Worker Certificate is a five-class graduate level certificate program. The classes cover every from a basic theology and understanding of urban youth ministry to an in depth look at the systemic problems facing youth and what strategies can be implanted to change not just urban youth, but the whole urban environment. If done year round, the certificate will take only 15 months to complete. The classes are offered in week long intensive formats. This means that one ought to complete most of the reading prior to the class and then the class time will be used for lectures from a variety of teachers and plenty time for communal learning through discussion and thought. Classes are offered Friday night and all morning Saturday, as well as in the evening on the following Monday-Thursday. If you are coming in from out of town, let us know and we can try to provide housing for a minimal cost. One of the best parts is that each class only costs $80! Think of this as a week
long conference, at only $80! But you get much more than a conference because you can walk away with the only graduate level Urban Youth Worker certificate in the country.
