Matt Gibson Director of neXus Boston
A grateful resident of Boston’s Codman Square neighborhood, Matthew was raised in Pasadena, Calif
ornia. Matthew has dedicated his life to serving youth and families in the region. In his professional life, he served as Director of the Ella J. Baker House’s Examined Life Project, as a Life Success Coach for the Boston Urban Youth Foundation, and as the Membership Coordinator for the Boston TenPoint Coalition. He currently serves as the Director of neXus Boston in Roxbury’s world-renowned Dudley Square. He is also an elder in the Church of God in Christ.
Matthew loves literature and taught creative writing to middle school students at The Writers’ Express after-school and summer program; he loves to bring classics of literature and philosophy into his sermons as well, and is beginning a devotional called “The Tree and the Pearl.” Matthew is an overcomer. He has conquered many obstacles in his life and is now committed to helping children and families move from suffering to hope.
Matthew is currently completing a degree in Psychology at Cambridge College. He also studied the role of religion in modern Egypt, while traveling through that country with the Boston Theological Institute. Matthew is also a Field Ed. Supervisor for Harvard Divinity School.
In his personal life, Matthew is a devoted husband to Thatiana Jameau Gibson and the proud father of Lillian Grace Gibson.
