The Interns

neXus Boston believes that if we are to truly foster a learning community of youth workers in Boston, then it better begin at neXus.  This is why we continually seek to work with individuals who desire to have a better understanding of both urban youth work and research regarding urban high-risk youth.  If you are interested in an internship please contact Ben by sending him an email.

Whil/files/Photos/intern pic.jpge attending college in California, Gabriela “Gaby” Morales became an avid participant in her school’s student government organization, as Senator in the Arts Division. The campus she attended was comprised of many Mexican immigrant students whose proficiency in English was minimal and who consequently felt disenfranchised from the rest of the student body, as per the language, culture, and economic barrier. Gaby’s participation in Student Government was thus ignited by witnessing the hardships and disparities experienced by this under-represented youth group—and so she strived to be a liaison between them and the school’s policy making body, in hopes that somehow she might be able to enhance and better those students’ experience.

It was then that she became convinced that our communities are longing for compassionate individuals who will invest in youth and vow to be agents of social change. But more importantly, the need for youth to experience the transforming love of Jesus in their lives, became firmly evident.

Gaby recently joined the neXus team as a research intern. She is currently involved in EGC’s Starlight Homeless Outreach Ministry. She is also in the process of learning French and Arabic in hopes of doing missionary work in the not-so-distant future. Gaby calls 7 Mile Road Church in Malden, MA, her church home.  To get in contact with Gaby email her here.
